Irina-Camelia Begu’s performance in the semis of Dallas was one of the more abysmal showings seen at that stage of a WTA event - it was so bad that even Chanda Rubin was audibly embarrassed for her in the commentary box. However, Sabine Lisicki was smart enough to make her pay for playing such an embarrasingmatch, powering through 6-0 6-1 to reach yet another final this year, and in the process deservedly breaking the top 20 for the very first time in her career.
Meanwhile, Aravane Rezai appears to be finding some form at long last as she fought through Angelique Kerber in the second semifinal to reach her first final of the year and set up a big-hitting showdown against Lisicki.
Really, the only analysis I can offer up in a match involving both Sabine Lisicki and Aravane Rezai is; those poor, poor tennis balls.
