Calling all the lines of professional tennis

Valerie Tetreault to Retire From Tennis

Word has it that 22 year-old Canadian Valerie Tetreault will be hanging up her rackets and retiring from professional tennis today. It seems completely out of the blue to retire with no serious injury at only 22 years-old, especially considering the fact that she’s actually a very talented player with a wicked all-court game, but it seems that she just couldn’t deal with the stress and strain of everyday life on the tour.

We hear so much about all the sacrifices Nadal, Federer and the Williams sisters have had to make throughout their careers, but in reality practically every single player has had to make the same sacrifices. And so it’s only natural that there will be players who don’t enjoy or relish life on the road as much as others. She seems to be an extremely grounded and very friendly person, so good luck to her in whatever she chooses to do after tennis.

Keep an ear out for Anna Lapushchenkova’s retirement too.
